Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is a professional career which includes many specialities like musculoskeletal, sports, neurology, wound care, EMG, cardiopulmonary, geriatrics, orthopaedics, women’s health, and paediatrics. Neurological rehabilitation is in particular a rapidly emerging field.
Physiotherapists with focus on paediatrics work on providing a child with skills in areas of mobility and gross motor skills that will help the child to engage in daily activities to the best of his/her ability. They work on gross motor tasks such as rolling, crawling, sit to stand, independent standing, walking, jumping, skipping and kicking. They also work on increasing the child’s balance and coordination and also help in overcoming delayed physical milestones. Train parents and caregivers on all aspects of the child’s development which include ways to maintain good body posture, best handling techniques to reduce further deformities and pain and restore their functional abilities.
